I have been tossing around the idea in my head to write a sequel to Mr. Shipley's Governess and then one more book following that one. I am not 100 % sure yet that I will be writing these two additional books, but I'll keep you posted if I do. I was not originally planning to write any continuation to Mr. Shipley's Governess, but now that I have some ideas on the plot line for these two books, I am seriously considering it. However, I'll need to let my publisher know and find out their thoughts on the matter.
I was able to finish writing chapter 26 of Island Honeymoon last night. I am tweaking the ending of the plot to make sure that all of the pieces of this puzzle are falling into place correctly. I am very excited that this book is nearly completed; then all of the editing work will begin. But I don't mind editing my books once they are completed. I always want to make sure that my work is as good as I can possibly make it. I am still currently working on my WIP, Island Honeymoon, although I wasn't able to work on any writing yesterday. I finished the script / project sheet for the book trailer video that my wonderful husband will be working on for my book, Mr. Shipley's Governess. I am very excited to see how the book trailer turns out. Well, I'd better get back to work. Ashlynn Monroe is a busy wife and mom. Why did you become a writer…was it a dream of yours since you were younger or did the desire to write happen later in your life? I remember making up stories in my head to comfort or entertain myself as early as the 1st grade. I started writing on paper at 13. I wrote my first novel (romance of course) when I was 14, it was terrible, but my cousin’s enthusiasm for it encouraged me to keep going. 2. What was the inspiration for your latest work of fiction? Street magicians like Chris Angel fascinate me. I love the masked magician; he shows how magic tricks happen. This story was an offspring of that interest. 3. Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination? Total imagination, I write to get away from the reality of life. 4. What was the most interesting research you had to do for any of your books? I am writing a series about cursed Templar Knights who are vampires. I did a lot of research about the Templar Knights and the mythology surrounding them. 5. How do you go from an idea for a book to the birth of the story? Is the process the same for every book you write? Every book is unique. I do always start at the beginning. Often the title is the 1st part of the story that I come up with when I write a new book. 6. Do you have any advice for beginning writers on how to write a book? Do you have any advice for them regarding promoting that book once published? Write what you love and what moves you. If you like it, chances are someone else will too. Once you receive that amazing news that a publisher has accepted your book, find inexpensive or free ways to promote yourself. Blog, guest blog, do author interviews, facebook, and tweet, go in reader and writer chats and tell everyone about your book.
I just completed writing chapter 25 of Island Honeymoon. I got a good start on chapter 26 and completed the first section. Things are getting exciting in this book, but I don't want to give away any info yet this far into the book, but suffice it to say, I'm having fun writing the story of these characters, Max and Alexa Stokes. This is the first book in a series of Alexa Stokes Mysteries. I already have a working idea for the second book in the series. My hubby and I went out to dinner tonight at a great authentic Mexican restaurant near us and I'm looking forward to church service tomorrow. Well, I'm tired and will be signing off for now. Until the next time... Chapter 24 of Island Honeymoon is completed and I need to work on chapter 25 tonight. All of the edits on the completed chapters 1 - 23 are done, but now I need to finish the manuscript, so my progress is a little bit slower right now. It's much easier for me to edit a chapter than to actually sit down and write a new one. Although, once I get going, the chapter does seem to come together. I guess the hard part is just making myself sit down with the laptop and stare at the blank screen until I actually have something to write. Well, I will be trying to conquer that procrastination tonight. Now that I'm writing my progress in this blog, I really need to be accountable ;- ) because as you read this, you'll see my progress and I can't hide from that fact and pretend that I really am progressing when I am not. I did have a busy weekend and spent time with my husband and went to a birthday party for my brother, so I really didn't have a lot of time to write this weekend. Hopefully, I'll get more writing done this week, in between working for my various clients and getting everything done around the house etc. Thanks for following my progress! I just completed the final edits on chapters 1 - 23 of Island Honeymoon and I finished my chapter outlines for the last chapters (24 - 33). I will be writing chapter 24 later on after dinner, while my husband watches the Flyers hopefully WIN tonight. I'm so excited about this new book, Island Honeymoon. Well, I have to do a little bit more marketing work and then I'll be starting dinner. I just got some good news from my publisher, Wild Horse Press. My book, Mr. Shipley's Governess will be released on November 9th. During the pre-release month in October, the book will be available in e-book format. Depending on sales during the pre-release month, then the book will be released in print format. I'm so excited and can't wait until November! I hope everyone has a great weekend. I did not get any writing done this weekend. My husband and I and his family had a rough weekend as his beloved Nonna passed away early Sunday morning. She was 89 years old and will definitely be missed. My husband was very close to her and my heart goes out to him and his parents and the rest of his family.
