Glad you stopped by The Mustard Seed today. Will you be taking the Uncommon Life Daily Challenge? Title: The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge Author: Tony Dungy and Nathan Whitaker Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers Length: 384 pages Category: Christian Life / Devotional Rating: Inspirational Purchase Link for Uncommon Life Daily Challenge The Uncommon Life Daily Challenge is a journey you can take for an entire year—the goal is to deepen your spiritual life at its core and increase your faith along the way. Join Tony Dungy, former Super Bowl-winning head coach, and co-author, Nathan Whitaker as they lead you on a year-long journey that will change your life. My review: There are seven themes discussed in the book—core, family, friends, potential, mission, influence and faith—you’ll find devotionals pertaining to each theme and then these themes are repeated each week. Even if you haven’t started this study from the beginning of January, each devotional stands alone, so feel free to accept this challenge and dive right in at any time. Each devotional starts with a scripture pertaining to the subject and at the end, there is an “Uncommon Key”. This is where the rubber meets the road. You are encouraged to apply or act on what you read. The purpose of this devotional is not just to read scripture or gain facts—it’s about opening up your mind to God’s perspective as that challenges your life towards actual spiritual growth. I have taken the Uncommon Life Daily Challenge and am enjoying the journey. The authors are writing from a godly perspective that daily challenges me to learn and grow spiritually. This devotional is not for the faint of heart—if you pick this book up and begin to take the journey, be prepared to face the challenge of growing your spiritual life and becoming a better person. Abby Johnson wanted to help women in crisis pregnancy situations. She thought that working for Planned Parenthood was the way to achieve that goal. Through time, she came to learn the truth and also faced her own painful past. This documentary of Abby’s story is based on the book, Unplanned and viewing it will take you on a journey of God’s redemptive power as Abby went from the Director of Planned Parenthood to a beacon of light as a voice for the unborn and women in crisis situations. After viewing this documentary, I immediately turned to my husband and said people everywhere need to watch Abby’s story. It is a testament to the healing power of God and answered prayers—the prayers of her family and those who prayed outside the Planned Parenthood facility, as they believed for a miracle. That miracle came the day Abby realized that God had other plans for her life. She saw the truth for what it was and desperately knew in that one life changing moment, that she needed to change sides and become a voice for life. The unborn needed a voice. I nearly cried during that pivotal moment as Abby shared what happened to change her perspective. This documentary is definitely a must-see for everyone.
