“Papa, what are we going to do on this trip?”
“We’re going to have fun, that’s what!”
“But, what kind of day trips will we take?”
“Day trips, huh?”
“Miss Sophie and I take day trips sometimes.”
“Yes, and they’ve mostly been educational.”
“Well, on this trip, the goal is to relax and have fun, so we have plans to go on the Belfast Safaris.”
“Seriously, there’s a safaris in Ireland?”
He turned toward Sophie. “These safaris are tours to discover the local culture and such.”
“So where else are we going?” asked Anastasia.
“Since you like zoos, my little Ana, I thought we could visit the Belfast Zoo and then explore the Aquarium.” He took a sip of water. “And for Miss Sophie, I thought we could take the C.S. Lewis Trail to visit places in Belfast and then when we go to Downpatrick, we’ll visit his childhood home.”
“Isn’t that the inspiration for the world of Narnia?”
Sebastian loved that he caught her interest. “Yes. I knew you’d like this excursion.”
“What else, Papa?”
He warmed up even more to their excitement. “We can check out the Down County Museum and the Saint Patrick Centre and, Sophie, you’re going to love the Down Cathedral. It’s where St. Patrick is buried and the grounds are beautiful.”
“This all sounds wonderful. Thank you, Sebastian, for this trip. I was beginning to think I’d never make it to Ireland.”
“You should never say never. Isn’t that what they say?”
She responded with the beautiful smiled he loved. “Yes, they do.”
“We’d better finish our food before it gets cold.”
“And we have to make sure to catch the ferry.”
He agreed. “Yes, we don’t want to miss that.” As they focused on finishing the meal, his thoughts ran wild with all of the special plans he made and his anticipation grew with each passing moment.
