When I first started my website on weebly.com, I was utilizing a free web counter which was visible on my home page. I liked the fact that it was visible and had great hopes of having thousands of visitors to my site. Then I began wavering with whether or not I should continue to utilize this visible web counter since my website was new and you could plainly see that I did not yet have many visitors and I wanted the count to be factual and not to start out with a made up number.
Then I had a meeting with one of the web designers I was working with for one of my clients I do marketing for and he mentioned that he wanted to sign up my client's website with Google Analytics. I had never used this before and after he explained it in more detail I was thinking, hey, maybe I should use this for my website. I am so glad I did.
Google Analytics does not utilize a visible web counter, which I now like and also enjoy the fact that it has very detailed findings on where my visitors are coming from (as in Country, as well as how they found my website). It also breaks the statistics down into how long the visitors stayed on my site and how many page views etc. I really love Google Analytics and am so glad I decided to start using it.
